My 1st Wedding Anniversary

Today, on the same date at 9.00 a.m. last year, I am married to the man I devote my love to, my darling hubby. It's been a year now that I enter the marriage life, but somehow I still feel like I just walked on the aisle yesterday. How time really flies…

I remember on the night before the wedding, I went to bed very late around 1.00 a.m. due to last minute preparations that hubby and I had to take care of. Even though I was too worn out, but I couldn't really sleep well. Hubby called up around 3.00 a.m. and told me that he couldn't sleep either. I managed to wake up around 4.00 a.m. because the guy who would do the make-up and my hair was coming around 4.30 a.m. He scolded me for being "naughty" due to my lack of sleep that had contributed to the dark circles under my eyes. Luckily, he's a professional, and I could say that I looked great. ;D

On my Wedding Day, I walked on the aisle with dad at my right and mom at my left for the give-away. The choir was singing "The Wedding" that has really touched my heart and I almost shed tears, but I was distracted with my wedding gown hi hi hi... My right hand was clinging on to dad's arm, and I was holding the bouquet with my left hand. Dad was walking a bit fast that I couldn't keep up with him, so, I kept stepping on my gown for a while before I whispered to him to slow down hi hi hi… I didn't notice mom's expression, but when we watched back the recorded moment, she had her teary face. :)

Everything went on fine during the Rite of Marriage where hubby and I exchanged vows, but there were funny moments throughout the Blessing and Exchange of Rings. When it was time for the Priest to bless the wedding rings, my nephew, the ring bearer didn't come forward. My younger sis was supposed to instruct him, somehow, I guess she has lost in her own world hi hi hi… When the Priest realized that the rings were not there, he asked in a very low voice and was smiling, "Where are the rings?" Hi hi hi… I turned to my bridesmaid, my best friend, to signal my nephew. I could hear them whispering, "The rings, the rings…" ;D

After the blessings, hubby took the ring from the Priest, and put it in my finger with no problem. However, when it was my turn, the Priest noticed that it's kind of hard for me to insert the ring into hubby's finger and he saw that hubby's wearing another ring, our engagement ring. Then, he jokingly asked, "Are you getting fatter? Eh, you have your ring already?" Hi hi hi… He's so humorous. Before that the rings were tied up with ribbons by the Church Ministry, and were put on a small pillow provided by us. So, when he was trying to undo the ribbon of hubby's ring, he couldn't. He took time to loosen it. Then I said, "Father, let me do it. Self-service…" He smiled. It was funny because no one noticed what happened. ;D

The Matrimonial Ceremony ended with blessings and thanksgiving. Another funny incident was upon the Registration of Marriage right after the Mass. I didn't know that there were so many papers to sign, so, after signing three of the papers including our Marriage Certificate, I just walked away. The Priest was laughing and called me out, "One more, one more…" Ha ha ha… I laughed and simply said, "Oh, sorry." Then he replied, "It's okay…", but he was still smiling. He's a very jovial man. Hubby, my family, friends and some of my relatives especially my dad, they were all chuckling. ;D

I was so full of relief and thankful to GOD that the Mass went on really well. From that moment on I am a wife, TAKEN and NOT AVAILABLE HI HI HI HI HI HI… ;D

Oh dear...you couldn't sleep? I slept already at around 10 pm even though I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep well, but I did. And I woke up at around 6 am he he...I told ya I'm a HUGE sleepyhead HA HA HA...

Ahem...anyway, I LOVE reading this story. Made me smile throughout the post, Crystal.

And YES, you looked GREAT on your wedding day. ;-D You had a funny memorable day. I don't think I had funny moments hi hi hi...but the best part was exchanging wedding vows. It felt as though there were nobody else in the room, just us...mmmmm...

And we only signed the papers after we got back from our honeymoon since it'd cost us SO MUCH to call the people to church or to my house to do it, esp. since Arttu was a foreigner. Yeah, go figure...they charge MORE!!!

If I could have set it up like you: signing in the papers right after our wedding ceremony, I would have done it. It'd be MUCH more practical that way he he he...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Crystal and husband. :-)

I loved reading your story. It brought back good memories. :-)
Night before our wedding I thought I wouldn't sleep, but I was just GONE. Our wedding was afternoon and I did my own make up and hair because we were on a budget and also my hair dresser was in hospital (car crash!) but I managed okay. Even the photographer was impressed. ;-)

Our friend's son carried the ring pillow and walked in front of me. At first he was too fast and i had to whisper "slow down!", but then
he
walked
this
slow

I had a hard time not giggling.
I can tell you that at anniversary 5 (for us) it still feels like it was just yesterday, and still feels magical to be together. ;-)

Michelle: Thank you, Michelle!!! :) Glad that I could bring back sweet memories to you with my wedding story.

Actually, we did think of doing the ceremony in the afternoon, but you know, it's warm here, and I wanted to look fresh, so, we did it in the morning. I told myself that it was going to be over real soon, all in one day and I would have the bed all myself ha ha ha...

You did your own make-up and hair?? Wow... That sure was pretty impressive!! I can do make-up, but not for weddings hi hi... What a terrible news about the car crash though.

Ha ha... I could imagine how slow your friend's son was walking he he he... We had our rehearsal a few days before the wedding, and the funny thing was, when we watched back at the VCD, one of my nephews who walked behind the ring bearer, was like counting his steps hi hi hi...

Anyway, I wonder what it will be like for us when celebrating the next anniversaries... I hope it will always be as magical as yours forever. :)
