Warm wishes to Dad

……When I came back from the kitchen, I handed him a glass of water. Then, it all happened so fast, the glass slipped off from his hand…and his body fell off just like that! For a second, I didn’t know what to do seeing him lying on the bed looking lifeless. My voice was shaky, but I managed to call my sister who is a year older than me. Tears were flooding in my eyes. “What’s happening to dad…?”

At that time our mom was not home. We were trying to reach her, but our fixed phone line was out of order. Cell phones are not widely used at those times, so I asked my youngest sister to make calls from the public phone, which was 100 meters away from our house. She rushed out to the public phone with all the tears in her face……

That was one of my most unforgettable memories that took place when I was in my teen years. I am so thankful to God that nothing bad has happened and dad is doing much better now. It still has the effect on me when talking about it though.

With warm wishes, "Happy Father’s Day to you, Dad, and we wish you in good health always!!! With love from your children……”

Note: Below is the poem from our local paper today (NST-June 17, 2007, Author: Not stated). I would like to dedicate it to all fathers out there.

What makes a Dad

GOD took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it … DAD

You are blessed to have a glimpse of what and who your father is to you in such a unique way. You have been wise in holding on to that.

Thanks, dragoncaller! It’s always a good feeling to know that other people do care.

I feel the same way too, Jeff, and I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason. Thanks!
